It's September which means kids are going back to school, some parents are becoming empty nesters, and some of us 😅 are excited to not be showing up everywhere sweaty. This month's theme "College Move-In" is all about teaching you how to help your kid move into their college dorm, apartment, grandma's house without destroying your body.

Exercise: How to Perform a Curtsy Squat

Purpose: To build single leg strength and endurance in primarily the quads in the sagittal and frontal planes

Who It's For: For the parents, the quirky aunts and uncles, the friends working for pizza and beer, and for the actual students themselves

Why We Love It: Because this summer was long and it’s time to get back on track

Procedure:

  1. Stand tall with feet hip-width apart.

  2. Step your right foot diagonally behind your left leg.

  3. Bend both knees, lowering your hips toward the floor.

  4. Keep your chest lifted and front knee aligned with your toes.

  5. Push through your front foot to return to standing.

  6. Repeat on the opposite side.

  7. Alternate sides for each repetition for 8-12 total reps.
