It's September which means kids are going back to school, some parents are becoming empty nesters, and some of us 😅 are excited to not be showing up everywhere sweaty. This month's theme "College Move-In" is all about teaching you how to help your kid move into their college dorm, apartment, grandma's house without destroying your body.

Exercise: How to Perform Good Mornings with Eccentric Focus

Purpose: To build strength and endurance in the glutes, hamstrings, while adding in core stabilization to prevent you from lifting with only your back

Who It's For: For the parents, the quirky aunts and uncles, the friends working for pizza and beer, and for the actual students themselves

Why We Love It: Because this summer was long and it’s time to get back on track

Procedure:

  • Stand with feet about shoulder-width apart without weight to start.

  • Brace your core and slightly bend your knees.

  • Slowly push your hips back, keeping your spine neutral and chest controlled.

  • Lower your torso until you feel a strong stretch in your hamstrings—take 3–5 seconds to descend.

  • Pause briefly at the bottom without losing your position.

  • Drive your hips forward and squeeze your glutes to return to standing.

  • Repeat for 6-8 reps.

Too scary? Let's take it to the floor and work on our hinging with Shoulders Elevated Hip Lifts.
